So I have a 1995 tahoe 2 door.
I also recently bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu so the truck isnt my primary transportation anymore. So I've decided I want to make it purely a mud rig.
It sits bone stock as of now other than some AT's.
I want this truck to be a monster. I had been looking at doing a 6in suspension lift paired with a 3in body lift for 9 inches of total lift.
But someone has recently brought to my attention that having an axle conversion done will allow me to lift the truck higher, and easier.
Ok so here's what I want out of the truck:
- Fit at least 38" boggers w/little to no rubbing
- Have a solid, reliable build that I'm not scared to hit a mud hole hard with, or scared to flex it too much
- Pretty much I'm looking for 9+ inches of lift and as reliable as possible

So, what do you guys think is better for me? I really don't know anything about the solid axle conversion but it sounds pretty good and the pictures I've seen is most like the kind of lift I'm looking for.
Also, any ideas on how much either option would cost me ( conventional lift kit vs. axle conversion)?
And what other parts I would need to purchase along with?
Any and all help is appreciated. I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan and return home in a month. Really looking forward to building this monster hoe.

Since you're looking to build a monster, the SAS is the way to go. The SAS kits give you about 3" of ift over the spring height, so you'll want at least 6" springs. Since you're wanting to use it hard, you'll need bugger axles.

There are several companies that sell pretty complete kits, but they don't include the axles (offroad design, offroad direct, offroad unlimited, sky manufactring). Axles are pretty easy to find on craigslist.

Personally, i'd stay away from a body lift.

Neither option is going to be cheap, but the SAS is going to cost more and there are fewer places that will do the the labor for the swap. offroad design is about 240mi from your base and i'd start there is you are serios about the swap.
