Basically I just want to get the public opinion, I'm deciding on buying either a tune or headers. Would it be a better idea to hold off on the tune until I get the headers so I wouldn't have to send it back in to tune it to the headers?

Helps to know what you have year, make, model what you have done so far.

what kinda tune you doing? ive been back and forth with blackbear and pcmforless and both can account for headers in the tune before you put them on so might as well,

as for which first i recommend headers first depending on which ones you get

I'm going to go Nelson when I decide to get it. They also account for headers. I was kinda leaning with just getting the headers done.

I have a 04 silverado 5.3 tbs cai flows.

Loose the tbs it does nothing for your truck but add weight. As for the headers go with long tubes I have a set of pacesetters on the way with an off road y. I would install the headers first and then tune.

I would save up and do them at the same time.

Nelson FTW

Edit: While you have the exhaust manifolds off put a vette servo in the trans and have the shifts set at firm shifts at WOT only in the tune. 1-2 shift will put you in the back seat at WOT but is damn smooth while cruising.

Yeah I def wanna do a vette servo tc shift kit all that. Wanna knock out some other mods first. I have done my research, was already set on long tubes. As far as which type painted vs ceramic does it really matter? Or would it be easier to do my own heat coating.

I would recommend buying ceramic coated headers

I'd suggest either stainless or ceramic coated. My painted swap headers already show surface rust and such.

Bought mine painted going to have them powder coated before I put them on. Get the vette servo and install with the y pipe out it was a pita to do my crew cab with the exauhst in.

I have a cat back, am I gonna need to get a ypipe to fit the headers?

Cause I have been looking at pictures and longtubes don't look like they bolt up to a stock pipe.

you will need either an aftermarket y pipe (off road aka no cats) or get a custom one made with cats in it your choice

Yes you will have to buy a y that fits the headers or have one made. The pacesetter setup I bought has a y picked up the headers and the y for $363 or so shipped

Doug Thorley has a really nice set of long tube headers and they (at-least for my Express van) came with everything to make it a direct bolt on.

I ended up going with pacesetters with a matching y.
