SO I was driving my truck to work the other day and it was getting louder and louder. I got home that night and found that the top of the muffler opened up like a tin can!! The muffler is just the summit one that comes in their kits.

I loved the muffler but it was only 2 yrs old and not even rusted so there's no way in H*ll I'm wasting my money on another one. I want something that is quiet with a nice tone at idle and cruising but sounds good under load. I'm looking at a flowmaster SUV 50 or a big block 70 muffler. Which one would suit my needs better? Is there another muffler will sound like the summit one but is better quality? I need one with 3" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets.

I can’t tell if that is a turbo muffler or chambered muffler. If it is a turbo style the Flowmaster is not going to sound the same like you want. If it is chambered style the Thrush welded mufflers sound just like the Flows and are a lot cheaper.

It's a turbo muffler

It's a turbo muffler. What other brand would sound similar?

I know a flow would sound different but I still like the tone based on the clips I've heard

Here are all the mufflers Summit has in stock that fit what you need. The best thing to do is go on youtube and listen to each one like you did the Flow.

flowmaster big block 70 is what u want, my dad had it on his old 2dr yukon and sounded great, tiny bit louder than my old 50 SUV on my old hoe

I just replaced my flowmaster 50 series suv muffler with thrush glasspacks. The rear of the flowmaster was rusting out, I had rewelded it 2 times already, it is only 4 years old. I talked to a couple local shops about flowmaster, they quit handling them because of troubles with them rusting out. The shops near me all switched to magnaflow mufflers from flowmaster, and sounds like they have been having better luck with them.

Is it carbureted? Did you have a back fire?

a dynomax turbo muffler would be pretty close , really anything with a sock tube and packed with fiberglass should be close to what your looking for. was your truck misfiring or anything ?

Had bad luck with my stainless Dynomax on my F150, internals rotted out after 3 yrs. Almost ordered another but after researching it found that it was a common problem.

Do you have pictures if this exploded muffler? It'd be interesting
