I'm going to do my best to explain this...

I have 12V going to a NO switch. After the switch I have a on-off-on (3-position) switch to choose between two outputs. I would like to be able to have an LED light when one output on the 3-pos switch is selected. I cant for the life of me figure out how to do it. I'm not sure how to detect continuity between the source and the selected output or how to supply voltage to the LED

any advice is appreciated

Ok let me see if I understand what you want to do. Bacically you want to run a LED light off one position of a three way switch? Whats the other side of the switch running??

A bit more info would help. If Im reading it right, you dont really need a double throw ( 3 pos ) switch. A normal single throw would work. Unless your gonna have something else running off the other side of the switch

You need a volt meter that either checks for continuity or resistance. Flip the switch in one direction and 2 of the "blades" will make contact. Flip it the other way and one of those two "blades" and the other one that did not have contact the first time will make contact. If you have 4 "blades" on your switch, the 4th one is a ground to give a complete circuit for the light in the switch. Is the switch not marked?
