Im new to truck forums and i've seen alot of threads with projects recently, that have inspired me to start on mine. I have a 97 extended cab step side that i will be working on for a bit before i head of to US Marine Corps boot camp in july. i'll be saving up money for a late 60's c10 project when i become a marine and keep this 97 extended cab as a daily driver ( or i might just have to trade for a reg cab obs silverado becuase i like the way they look over extended cab trucks). But for now this is my project and im not on a big budget by any means im in high school getting minimum wage haha so it will be a slow project. so this is where i started from. http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy100/john611_2010/temporary-2.jpg

Will you be putting different wheels on it? Or lowering it at all?
Looking good though man, keep it up!

yeah i was thinking about a 4/6 kit and when i have the money buy some torque thrust wheels. i dont really know if i want to keep the truck red. i was thinking about black? and grey torque thrust wheels? idk yet but it will be red for a while since im not to concerned about it right now

but does anyone have any suggestions on what 4/6 lowering kit to use.

You could probably bondo that bumper to fill the gap. Most people buy a steel roll pan and weld it in.

I like red on this truck a lot. There are too many black trucks on the road IMO.

Yes the stepsides are fiberglass and if you bondo that seam up it'll just crack so I'd keep it like it is if you were to keep this truck. Just my 2 cents.

thanks yeah i was thinking i should keep it the way it is. i wish i found a nice extended cab project that would motivate me to keep mine and start working on it instead of having to go through all the trouble to trade for a reg cab obs

Looks at Thompon22's project. He's got an extended cab stepside that has turned out really nice!! If I can find the thread I'll link it here for you.

Here it is. Check out the link below. His extended cab stepside turned out very nice and he did all the work himself!
