I have a 97 Chevy 1500 4.3L and want to put a 4/6 drop on it. Every kit I've seen so far comes with a c-notch, but I would rather not have to put a c-notch in. Do I have to install a c-notch or is there someway around it? And if I have to install it how long does it take because this is my only vehicle

With a 6" drop you need the notch. It's not that difficult, but it takes some time. Make sure you have everything you need before starting so there are no interuptions. I was worried about the notch but the front ball joints were more of a PITA.

You NEED the C notch for axle clearance or your frame will hit the axle tube every time you run over a pebble:D

Agreed, must have the c-notch if u go more than 4" in the back, its not terribly difficult but very time consuming, measure 736373 times and cut once

Thanks for the replies guys. Are there any specialty tools I should buy to do it? What should I use to cute the frame? I work at a metal fab shop that has a plasma cutter but I'm not sure of I can get my hand s on it yet. Is it possible to do the whole job in one weekend in my drive way?

I did the whole job in our shop in about 6-8 hours on my old Tahoe, and its A LOT more complicated so u should be able to knock it out in 5 or 6 taking ur time...the plasma cutter would be great for it, but make sure u drill the corners first, don't make any sharp edges in your cuts...the longest part is drilling all the holes, but its not that difficult, just takes awhile, but you'll be fine

Awesome thanks for the help. I'm going to try and get my hand on a plasma cutter but if I can't, what else do you recommend?

And can it be for with the bed still on?

Yes you can do it with the bed on, also you can use a cut-off wheel or saws-all with a tempered blade.

Also, I read some here that I can lower the front up to 3 inches, does anyone recommend this? I found a set for pretty cheap

are you talking about lowering springs only? yes you can, but if you go 3/6 you'll be riding cali meaning the front is going to be higher then the back, check my pictures I was running cali when I did the 6 inch drop in the back and 3 inch lowering springs up front. I just lowered the front 4 inches, and I have my 3 inch lowering springs for sale

2" spindles, 2" coils up front will give you a level stance with the flip kit.
