Tailgate project

This is my first real auto body project. im 17 with very limited tools and equipment but i do what i can to make things work. i am hoping to get some sanding done and get my truck ready to repaint this summer. any cheap tips for a good finish are helpful.

im open to all opinions

Started out pretty rusty and badly painted from previous owner

After an hour of grinding with a buddy we got it down to bare metal
http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj623/dustina48/2012-04-04094602.jpgi patched all the rust roles and made it smooth with some bondo and a lot of sanding. Then i tried it on to see how it looks

Now i just gotta wait until there is room in a friend's shop to paint it

Primed and on the truck. just took it off and now waiting on paint. now im just worried the tailgate will look better than the paint on the rest of the truck haha
