trans temp gauge and stainless gauge face install questions

hey guys I'm wanting to install a trans temp gauge and a set of stainless gauge faces on my 2003 silverado 1500 …..now it doesn't have a factory trans gauge but i can install a stepper motor myself my question is if i am to buy a gauge face with the needles for a 2500 or 3500 gas will everything work properly ? or do i need to install a trans temp sensor of some sort in the tranny pan ? heres a link as to what I'm wanting

If you install a trans temp in your current cluster it wont work. Any gauge setup with factory installed trans temp will work plug and play.
