I just got a 2010 Silverado. I took all of the (good stuff) out of my old truck. I installed everything in my old truck, just wondering if that would cause problems down the road with my 4 year warranty. I can just see them saying "the problem is your transmision burnt up, we think it is because of the stereo install. Sorry it's not under warranty anymore.":bull:

I just don't want any problems, and the stock speakers are crap. i'm sure you are aware of this.

Would it be better to have a shop do the work? Though the few times I have done that i usually redo their garbage work and make it better. Or can I do this myself without fear?

HELP! I need my good tunes back.

Thanks,
Dono

Also with that year of truck is there anything I need to be aware of?

Again thanks.

Unless they can prove your mod broke the truck they must still honor the warranty. Your friend is the Magnuson-Moss Act as it covers this very thing. In laymen terms it says that if you mess with X on the car and Y breaks under warranty they must prove that Y broke because you did X. However if you are still gun shy about having to fight for any kind of warranty work then don't do it.

Just what I'd tell people at the Ford dealer that would ask me this stuff: If you put a straight pipe exhaust and a tune on your 6.0L diesel, it won't void the warranty on your power windows, but if you blow a head gasket, be ready to shell out some coin. I can't imagine a stereo system install would do anything to a warranty. Moss-Magnuson will take care of you for most of the way, and if you use a reputable installer for your stereo they *should* take care of the rest.

And by the way, I know I usually listen to talk radio, but aren't most factory stereos pretty good lately, and not in need of upgrade?
