Hey guys, not too long ago I had to replace the steering wheel position sensor in my truck, I unplugged everything to separate the steering column from the steering shaft and when I plugged everything back in when I was done the air bag light came on. I tried unplugging everything again and plugging it all back in, disarmed and rearmed the system, still no luck. Any idea what could be wrong?

Just a guess here, but you are supposed to disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for 10 minutes before doing ANYTHING to the airbag system or wiring. you might disconnect the battery cables, then touch the ends of the cables together to discharge the capacitors in the system, then wait 10 minutes to hook them back up. If you have a theft lock radio, unlock it before you do this, otherwise it might be locked out when you re-connect the battery.

And to be clear, touch the disconnected battery CABLES together... NOT the battery POSTS!

Thanks for the tip, I didn't disconnect the battery before unplugging the air bag connectors so that's probably what caused it. I did try doing what you said but the light is still on. Any other suggestions?

Its more than likely a stored code from where everything was unplugged. Get a scanner and pull the code. Write it down, clear the code and drive it and see if it comes back on.

it has a airbag code in it now just clear the code and you should be good to go, if the light comes back on you got problems
