OBS passenger side exhaust flange - notch or no?

I got my eBay stainless headers on and now I got the Jegs y-pipe to replace the stock cat pipe. The stock flange on the y-pipe has a little notch in it. The Jegs part does not have this notch. The flange seems to fit OK. Do I need to cut this notch, or just leave it as is?

A picture might help. But if it works and doesn't leak, you should be good.

I looked at it some more and wound up grinding a notch about 1/8" deep. Everything bolted up tight.
