i have a oil leak coming from the rear passenger side of the motor, looks to start from the area behind the head an runs down along the back of the block near where the tranny mounts an down the starter an drips from starter mounting bolts and down in between the inspection cover and the rear of the oil pan. the valve cover gasket feels dry along with the rear of the intake. i recently did a little bit of a rebuild so all the gaskets are new.. and i used RTV for the front and rear of intake.. please any info would be great!! doesnt feel wet around the distributor or oil sending either.

anytime...alot of people dont realize the oil travels up that way and that seal should be replaced everytime or atleast every other time the distributor is out

Valve covers and the rear intake seal are common leak points.

would wash and wipe it down good to narrow down problem area...run till you get oil....fix
blowby from oil preasure sensor?....if you take it out be cautious they snap easy!!!!
leak on my new engine similar area turned out to be bad valve cover gasket or install...replaced and solved isssue

i recently had this same leak...i'd be willing to bet money it's the distributor gasket. replaced mine, didn't fix the leak...tried tightening it a bit more..still no fix...tried replacing it one more time...bingo..leak stopped...it's just a pita....oil press sensor would be the next thing i'd replace/tighten..also had a leak there.

i'll try the distributor gasket again. maybe with a different brand? i used a felpro. i have a mechanical oil preasure gauge. i'll take another look at that as well.. seems like ever since i've switched to the vortecs i've had this leak
