Hey there everyone, new to the forum. Have been a member of s10 forum.com for forever now and I understand how these types of forums operate. I did a search on here and came up empty handed. I currently just purchased a 1973 long bed pickup as a tow-pig/daily driver and I'm wanting to bag/body drop it. I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can put a 24" rim and 30-35 series tire combo on the front of this generation truck without having to cut into the inner hood supports. I have seen were alot of ppl run a 22/24 combo and they work perfectly but was wondering about an all 24 set due to wanting to rotate tires due to wear etc. If any of you have any comments, pictures, suggestions, or encouragement it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

It depends on the width of the rim.

There is no inner hood support stuff on a 73.You can remove the inner fender, and that would give you a lot of room.I would worry about the wheel rubbing the control arms(maybe) when turning.

If you are going to tow with the truck, most of those big wheels can't handle the weight. So you might look into that too.

The Rims are 24x10 centerline smoothies... so a solid piece of billet, so as for not being able to haul im not worried at all, plus I'll only be hauling my mini truck on a trailer with it, nothing ridiculous!I see in a current issue of STREET TRUCKS that there are 3 of my generation trucks running 22x9.5s up front and they have room, hell one narrowed his track width so he can completely turn when aired out. Just need to know if a 24 will fit

And id worry about hitting the frame rails before hitting the control arms, with that big of a rim, they'd be tucked up in there out of the way

I was bitten my the mini truck bug a little while ago, now I am more into getting something useful, instead of dumping money into it for looks. Anyways, I would think you'd be fine with those wheels on a full size, with the inner fender removed. Personally, I would use the money to keep customizing your mini, instead of customizing the hauler. Yeah, I would look into the weight restrictions with those wheels and tires. I have had buddies blow their tires out towing their trailer queens with low profile tires.

:word: make the tow pig nice, efficient, and comfortable, save the useless shiny stuff for the trailer trash.

:soapbox:
Couldn't have said it better myself. Should just make the 73 a useful tow vehicle, and not thug it out.
