Yes, by my screen name I am a firefighter in California. I can't wait until this summer when the world burns...errr....ummmm....the forest replenishes itself is what I meant.
Here's what you need to know about me and my rides.
Wife is driving a 2000 NBS Yukon which we bought new in 1999. 195K miles on it.
I was driving a 2006 Sierra Crew...which I sold because she lost her job and we needed to shave some payments.
The day I after I sold it...she got a new job. Crap.
So now I am rolling in my 99 OBS Crew 4x2 with a 5.7 in it.
I do all my own work, and am pretty damn handy.
In the Yukon I've replaced every pulley driven item except the a/c compressor. Knock sensors, intake gaskets, just did a 4 wheel brake job and axle seals this weekend. I was filthy from head to toe. But that's how I roll. I'm not cheap or into saving money...but I am kind of. I just don't like anyone touching my shizzo!
My 2500 I have rebuilt the entire steering system (everything!). Just replaced the blower motor, and am looking to take it back to a stock spindle with 2" coil spacers. It's getting hard for Grandma to get into it, even with the nerf bars. And the tires just don't roll as nice. I picked up the 2500 from a guy in AZ...and after alot of work to get her tuned up the way I need it, I don't regret it.
I love this site. Whenever I go to tackle something new on the Yukon or the 2500, I come here first. You guys are my peeps. I am born/raised Chevrolet (I've owned them all...Ford, Toyota, Honda, GMC, Nissan). And the one thing I like about my Chevy is that after working on these for so long...I can pretty much call myself an expert on the 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 (as far as shadetree Sunday mechanics go).
The one thing I regret is not taking pictures along the way...but I'm gonna start giving back to this great community.
Keep the Chevys on the roads boys...the apocolypse is coming. People are gonna need a ride.http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh509/firemhan/photo.jpghttp://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh509/firemhan/IMG00001-20100516-0906.jpghttp://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh509/firemhan/68_V20110929045839000121.jpg
