You're asking what the stock tint on the rear 3 windows is, right? It should be between 15-20%. If the law truly is 35% all around for everything, then it's already darker than the limit and that wouldn't allow you to put anything else on.
I would check your laws for sure to see what is legal. Most states have no restrictions on the rear windows, but a lot still do. Other states exempt trucks, SUVs and vans from the rear restrictions since their factory tinted rear windows are often already darker than what the state law allows.

Factory privacy glass is around 20%. In my state, the law pertains to front windows. The back and rear sides can be as dark as you want. But we're just good 'ol boys here. It may be different in the Harvard state.

our law states you can have 35% all around (for mass) so theoretically im already breaking the law from factory, for back so pointless to tint over it, guess ill get 35% on the front and rear window and call it a day
thanks

factory tint is not held to local laws.
A good shop will be able to match the factory percentage.

depends on the cops in your area.
i have 5 all around, people roll blue/yellow/red/double 5/gradiant and even mirror and nobody gets popped. Law states 35% is legal limit. Theoretically could they? Sure. But 20% isn't that much different then 35 to be honest. He'd have to meter it to even realize it was illegal.
also, you can spray paint your back windows if you want. no law i can think of in any states that is bound to the back 3 windows.

No, there are states that have limits there too. Texas was one of them for a few years. On passenger cars, all side windows, both front and rear, had to be 25% or lighter. Only the rear windshield was unlimited. At the same time, though, trucks, vans and SUVs had no limitations on rear side windows. Texas has since done away with the limits on passenger car rear side windows.

You completely missed what he was saying. He never suggested that you paint your windows. His point was that you would be able to make them completely opaque if you wanted and would still be legal.

That's a decent guide, but I have found errors there. States are constantly changing and updating their tint laws, so I would suggest trying to find a Massachusetts state government site that shows the actual statutes for your state.

My point, and thanks for the info too, not too up and up on alot of state laws, mostly just the ones I border with and frequently visit.

Alright Chevy53, easy killer. Thats twice that you have completly missed the point. Nobody is telling you to paint your windows. Why don't you do us all a favor and just go ask an officer in your local area what the laws are for your state and stick to that.

Because, for the third time now, you have totally missed the point that Andrew. was making. He NEVER ONCE suggested that you actually spray paint your windows. His statement was basically an exaggeration of the point that you could have your rear windows as dark as you like, up to and including to the point of being completely opaque (as if they had been painted), and not be breaking the law.

Wow. Punctuation might help as well there killer. Makes reading easier.
You already know your windows are tinted beyond the limit from factory which is legal as long as it came that way. I'd try searching your state DMV or state trooper site for up to date laws on tint. Bigger issue to worry about besides tickets is if MA has yearly inspections as most places will fail you if below limits.
Btw all three rear windows should already be the same tint, at least my ext cab came that way.

Spray paint all the windows and drive full speed towards the nearest cliff...
