viper remote start, keyless entry not working

I just bought a 1997 yukon gt it has a viper system that i think is supose to be an alarm, keyless entry and remote start. It doesnt work. Any ideas on where to start checking to get this thing to work. The guy i bought the truck from said he put a new battery in the remote and when i press the button on it the light lights up. I looked under the dash and there is 3 fuseable links there i checked those fuses they are good. Can anyone tell me where to start to get this working besides paying someone else to do it.

You might try looking up the directions for pairing the remote with the system. For some reason, the pairing may have been lost?

Tryed looking it up only found stuff for newer systems. The other day when i went to best buy to buy my dash kit and harness i asked the guy he said turn the ignition on and off 5 times then press the lock button. It didnt work at the time but i took the remote off my keys and left it inside the truck for the past few days. Tryed it just now and it locked, unlocked the truck and set the alarm, remote start didnt work tho. Weird but im glad the alarm works now atleast.
