i was looking for what yall thought about headers and true dual pipes. i dont know what kind of headers to get. do i need ceramic coated? what brand? i was going to let a shop do headers because my luck every bolt will break... what is the best high flow cat? and cat back i just want straight pipe with turn downs under the bed. is their a problem with the clamps on exhaust or should i get them welded. i like to do work my self but i dont want to do the things with lots of hassle. is turn downs bad to put on trucks that sees mud....i got a lifted Z71 and i use it.lol

Ceramic coated just helps keep the heat where it belongs, in the header exiting out those wonderful pipes, and not in your engine compartment. The chrome ones I believe do a slightly better job than stock (they will turn a blue/brown color from the heat discoloring them). The lower engine compartment temps help keep the air your engine gets cooler and denser for more power out of the available oxygen. As far as brand I am clueless, I'm sure other people have their opinions and personal experiences and will chime in.

As for the turn downs and mud, are you just flying through giant mud puddles or are you the people we see on those home video shows driving your truck basically through a mud lake? if the later, I would think turn-downs might not be the best idea since you might cook some dirt into your pipes and cause exhaust restriction (Note: I am not a professional by any means and this is just a general statement I am assuming).

Maybe you could get some of those nice smoke stacks for your truck, definitely won't have to worry about mud getting in then! lol

I say run true duals with single chamber super 10 flowmasters

what year truck, and size of engine? Z71 tells us nothing but stickers and plastic skidplates. Oh and true duals is a waste of time and money.

Might as well be plastic. The Ls engines come from the factory with a decent flowing exhaust stock. You will lose power running true duals with straight pipes. It is not 1980 anymore.

He's right...

... but far as the exhaust goes, you'd likely be best with a single free flowing muffler. For the most part there won't really be any gain to 'true' duals, outside more sound.
