hey guys i just bought a 12" dynomax bullet, so i was plannin on just cuttin off my huge tub exhaust until my muffler comes in cuz i can't stand it right now. will this have any negative effect onn my truck? also i plan on puttin on pacesetter LT headers in a couple months. do i need a tune or anythng? can i just put them on and there will be no problems? oh n my trucks a 08' 1500 5.3l

your going to need a tune for longtubes unless you get a custom Y pipe made with cats in it, and even then id still get a tune so it will run better and where do you plan on cutting the exhaust off? if you cut it too short you will lose power since you dont have enough backpressure

ok where would i look to get a tune? and im puttin a programmer on the same time frame would that do the trick? n i was gonna cut it bout a inch or 2 in front of the muffler

Don't get a programmer...a tune is all you need and more

im gettin a programmmer regardless cuz im puttin 37's on so i need to tune to fix speedo and odo. but question still remains on the exhaust guys if i chop it an inch or two before the stock muffler should be ok right?

It's just going to sound like total ass but yeah it'll be ok
A tune can fix your speedo and odometer, it also gives better performance. I don't see LT's and a programmer working well together at all.
So let us know how that programmer works out for you :thumbup:

ok well if the programmer aint gonna work then not wastin 500 on it u kno. where would i get the tune done at? i only prefer a programmer cuz i have a edge evo with custom tune on my f150. plus i like seein my mpg's you know.how much would the tune cost?

If you want to see your current gas mileage get a Scangauge II or an Aeroforce Gauge. (in addition to the tune)
Those two gauges will let you monitor many things including trans temp

you can get a pcm tune from blackbear for like 300$ and it will be 10x better than any programmer out there
