So what are your power goals? High RPM, street machine? Drag? SCCA? What kind of fuel/octane do you expect to run on? What is the current static compression ratio? You need to make the cam match the compression ratio. Assuming you current compression ratio is low, if you get a radical cam with a lot of intake duration (where the intake valve closes well after BDC) you will not see a lot of power, and have really bad bottom end power (not enough PSI will build during compression stroke).
Based on your statement about the original cam "212/218 .557/.563 115lsa" I'd say this is a pretty tame cam (low duration and an LSA so wide the engine ought to idle smooth as glass). So that means, if the current compression ratio matches that cam, you should be around 8.9-9.4:1 to run on 87 octane. And if you are not going to change the compression ratio, then your next cam needs to have a similar intake valve closing point (as measured in degrees after BDC/ABDC).
Also what about tappets? flat/roller, solid/hydraulic? What heads are you running? What is the chamber volume and intake runner volume?

Motor! Been bored 30 over flat top pistons 3 angle valve job smooth heads an it uped the compression to around 9.2-9.5to1 an re worked bottom end its makeing around 400 pluse hp at the fly wheel is what I was told an im running super unleaded

Sounds fishy to me. I don't think you are going to get 400HP out of that cam, especially on a 327 with that compression.

Also, 212 intake duration is about perfect for a 9.5:1. And is 212° the advertised duration or the @ .050" rating?

Well then sounds like you have a good setup. Why change it?

Do you realized OP is talking about a 5.3?
OP, it wasn't really a 327, more like 325.

A 300 stall will not suffice for a 228/228 cam, neither will a 3000 stall. In a 5.3 you'll be looking for a 3600+ stall

The thought crossed my mind, but the OP is not very forthcoming about his goals in the project, let alone what engine. So when he says 327, I think this a Gen1 SBC.

Actually it would be 323/325 CI before the cylinders were touched. Why not get a custom cam tailored to your mods and truck?

In my first post I sayed it was a 327 bored to a 331 an that I was looking at getting a tsp 228/228 .588/.588 110lsa to put in the truck uf that was a good cam because the cam I have now (212/218 .557/.563 115lsa) was in my stock 4.8! An blew her up!

If you do not plan on getting your converter reworked to a higher stall rating I would look into a TSP220 or TR220. Those are both proven performers. That or you can have a custom cam spec'd for you for $25 bucks.

Talking about the stall in my truck an having to get a bigger? No it a 3000-3500 and my buddy had a built 6.0 with a .640+ cam in his car with that transmission till he leand the machin shop that built the motor messed up something an around the 180 mile mark block cracked

THe lift of a camshaft has very little to do with the relationship of the converters stall speed. Oh you also mentioned car, these heavy trucks play a little differently with camshafts and converters.

Trucks been doing great with the stall knock on wood
