hey thought id ask around if anyone knows much about the 97 vortec? im looking at one with a siezed engine and would like to drop a new used one in. these engines are fairly easy to tinker with are they not? any suggestions? its a 4x4 5.7 vortec. thanks

LABEL EVERYTHING!!!!!! When I pulled my motor to work on it, it took 3+ hours just for the wireing, removing accessories (a/c, power steering, fan)

thanks and do you know if i can put and 1996-1998 350 vortec in and 96-98 chev full size truck?

Yes the 96-98 vortecs are the same

Thats the engine that came in those trucks so yeah there is no problem there. Just got to make sure you utilize ALL sensors from the old engine or of course buy new ones. But the point I am making is to make sure you dont leave anything off.

right on thanks for the help guys. thinkin il have to slap some long tube headers and maybe a 3" straight pipe exhaust when shes done.

If you need to replace the motor then do a 383 or 396 or go wild with a 572. I heard that a vortec 454 has alot in common with the 350.
