Where to run 1/0 Wire/Grounding

Alright, I'll be working on upping my system to about 4kw once I'm done, so I'll be working on extra batteries and such for the system..Looking at two up front with one or two smaller in the rear for extra reinforcement. My main questions are

- What's the largest battery that will fit in the front two spots in the engine bay?
- Where's the best place to run the 1/0 to the rear of the (extended) cab? (If it requires pulling carpet up, I'm probably going to deaden the truck at the same time)
- Where's the absolute best place to ground the amplifiers? I'm using the middle bolt that holds the rear seats upright (the bracket is removed as I do fold my seat down at times with another mod)

well if your leaving the seats in.. what subs are you going to use to use that will handle 4K? and what alternator/ alternators do you plan to run? 4K on a single alt you will need more then 4 batts. i have my wires ran under the truck as it was easier that way rather then under the carpet for me. how many runs do you plan? i would shoot for at least 3 of each. and if your using batts in the rear, just ground straight to the batteries. what amp are you going to use?

It's going to be about 3kw subs (4 Sundown SA8's, more than likely v2's), and around 1.2kw highs (3 SounDigital 400.4's, two for woofers, one for supertweets), It won't be at full blast all the time, the power is there mainly to have headroom.

Is your truck an automatic? If so, you usually have a good patch of metal where they mount the clutch master cylinder assembly you can drill through. What year? I know on nbs there is a pretty big grommet, but I've never tried running 1/0 through it, that might be a bit much.

Yeah, I've heard of that as a viable option. 2001

Absolutely, it's usually my go to option on automatics, although on the nbs trucks the big grommet to the left of the steering column can accomodate a decent sized wire.

i currently run 2 kicker kx2500.1 amps, and 2 kicker kx800.4 AMPS on 3 optima batteries on a stock 140 amp alt in my 1995 bonneville. all zero gaige wiring. on 4 15'' kicker L7 subs.

system full tilt never went below 13.2 volts.

so if the installer knows what they are doing, it can be done and without any issues..

but a high output alt and some extra batteries are always recomended.

Yeah, plans are for either replacing or adding on a H/O 270amp alt, 2 group 34 batt's up front with something like 4 Kinetik HC600's behind my rear seat. Where did you run your 1/0 under & where did you bring it up at in the cabin? I'm trying to cause the least damage possible.

i actually pre-drilled holes in my firewall around the gas/ brake pedal area ( safely tho ) reouted them down the center of the truck under the carpet. i had to remove the drivers seat and back seat on drivers side. then i ran then behind the second row to my battery bank,

and i would not reccomend the hc600's.. i would do 2 hc 2000 kinetiks

I'm trying to get batteries that will fit behind the rear seat. The HC600's look like they'll do the job. I don't need a whole lot of extra power (doing 2 big batteries up front) just some extra thrown in.

you should be able to get away with 2 + runs from the front to the rear for that amount of power. best bet is comming in on the firewall some where, and then under the carpet. i went outside of the truck as i have 7 + runs and 5- runs.

I have a question on this topic I am putting a system in my 2000 silverado it's gonna be around 5k watts would an extra battery and high output alt be enough to power this ?

no you will either want 2 alts and a couple batts, or a very nice, big high amp alt ( Mike Singer alts, not cheap though.. ask how i know !) and a few batts. i had an atomic 7k on a 200A alt and 6 batts and that was no where enough and i could suck the voltage down when ever i wanted...
