I will be needing some new mud tires soon and i am trying to figure out just how big i can go with out having too much rubbing or power loss. I currently have cooper stt 285/70/17 (33-11.5-17) which fit with no problem. I have been looking at the toyo 295/70/17(33.5-12-17) and the bfg km2 305/65/17 (32.8-12.2-17). Im leaning toward the toyos but need some opinions on them. (Truck is a 2006 sierra z71 5.3L with 3.42 gears)

unless your tires are wore out and need replaced anyway, i wouldnt bother for just a half inch difference. but if you do need to replace them, id go for the toyos. with that small difference in size, you shouldnt have any rubbing or power loss issues.

Out of those I would go with the toyo. I have had really good luck with my nitto trail grapplers, 15000 miles and they are barly starting to show wear. My buddy runs Goodyear duratracs and he really likes those to. Just giving you a few other options you could look at.

I personally wouldn't go any larger dia. than 33". IMO 32.5 would be my max with a 5.3 cranking 3:42s. You could go wider but just find a lower aspect ratio.Too tall of tires without proper rear end set up is a motor killer.
