Does anyone know which wire goes from the cargo lamp switch to the cargo light on a 2005 Chevy Silverado? I have lights inside my bedside that I want to turn on when I turn the cargo light on so I can see at night to put my fishing equipment away. There's 5 or 6 wires to choose from and I know a couple of them are for the fog lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hum this forum doesn't seem to be as popular as it once was...there a better place for me to post this question?

On my '04 there is not a wire from the cargo light switch to the cargo light. The switch is read by the body control module (BCM) then the BCM activates a relay that turns on the lamp. If you want to wire something on the interior, my theory is you would be able to pull the headliner and find the wire to the cargo lamp, then tap into that.

Well there may not be a direct wire to the cargo light but when pushing the button it open (actually probably closes) a connection and one of those wires then becomes hot which will turn on the cargo light. I just want to tap into the wire that becomes hot after the button is pushed. I wish I didn't store my volt meeter somewhere else or I'd just figure it out on my own.

Anyways about this forum being dead I can remember a few years ago that if someone didn't respond to a post in a day that post would be pushed onto the 2nd page. Just seems like not many posters. Is it the economy and people don't have the time and money to do stuff to their vehicles?

cargo lamps have constant power and the switch provides ground

Yeah I believe u are right...that makes things a pain in the butt. Guess I have to run it right to the cargo light.

I tried to tie some lights into the cargo light and ended up giving up. It seems like both wires were positive until the button was pressed and then one would become negative. That could be wrong, its been several years.
