This is on a 2009 Chevy 1500. I'm wanting to see what my options are for connecting multiple items to a factory top post battery. I have a amp currently connected to it and now I need to connect a
winch to the battery. I was told I could connect it to the red wire in the black box on the firewall by the battery but unsure of this. If this is the case I would connect my amp to this and connect the winch directly to the battery. The positive winch wire is just long enough to reach the battery. 'm not wanting to replace my battery being that it still works well. Thanks

I use Military Style Top Post Battery Terminals (just google it) I bought them at O'Reillys. You can put crimp connectors on the end of your wires and slide them over the bolt. Works great.

Your best option would probably be to just hook it directly to the battery. That wire going to your fusing is for the stock electrical, I have no idea how much current a winch draws, so I don't think it would like it. My suggestion would be to also do the "Big Three" upgrade for your truck (it's used in car audio to reduce resistance while charging, 3 wires alt->battery, battery->frame, block ground->frame. Works wonders when you're pulling alot of current (like 2kw of stereo! lol). As long as you have a big enough battery, you should be alright.
