I didn't get the ltz so I'm now on my own for remote start. I go boating in laughlin roughly 10x a year and.. well.. with the black leather and all.. its frickin hotter than a rat's azz on a tin roof.
I want remote unlock/start with an app for my android fone. Any suggestions? I hear Viper a lot..
What's the price range for this? TIA for any response.

i am a mecp master installer we sell viper and i can say out of all of the stuff i have sold and instlled it is the best. the make a few different phone pieces one has gps for tracking the other is just a start piece. the usally run around 300 installed on top of the remote start. i have the 5902 one mile range alarm remote start and love it, rechargable remote and alot of options i use. the nice thing about viper is they own like 45 pec of the market share so if you do have a warr issue its easy to find a dealer.

I have one on my truck and I'm working on removing it and repairing the damage done to the wiring by installing it. I personally don't think cutting, splicing and otherwise damaging your wiring is a good idea. unless you have one that plugs in between stock harnesses i wouldn't bother with one. And as far as having one installed ill show you a picture of my wiring if you would like to see the way a shop typically installs one

I decided to throw up a pic of a "professional instillation" I see way to many crimped on connectors, i see them as a temporary fix if you don't have access to a soldering iron, I personally solder them on after crimping, that way they wont pull off. wires that were Teed off of, way to long wires, unused, uninsulated spade connectors, electrical tape vs shrink tube, and wires that re just hanging there doing nothing, uninsulated mind you, and finally no wiring loom
And that is the reason i don't trust any shop to touch anything electrical in a vehicle. If i was the one that installed that I would have sued for the value of having my wiring harness in my truck replaced, and having remote start properly installed

wow a "professional" shop did that? this is something that gets under my skin as an installer. having someone do this to a car and try to say they are professional just give my whole industry a black eye. every one of my connectors are solder on and the wire is wrapped in tape and follows the factory wiring as to give it a stock appearance.
not every shop is like that but yeah there are too many of them out there who do work like this. the bad part is the new chevy wiring is pretty easy to wire up, its all low current wiring and once the truck sees the acc drop to ground and the transopnder is detected the truck will automatically start. it had to be more work to make something look that bad............

Yeah, I've got a brand new truck that I don't want to get butchered like that.

pretty disturbing, unfortunately i've seen too many installs like that over the years as well. a proper install is far from a hack job
which orange county are you in/around pat? i may be able to give you a few shop recommendations in your area that you can check out and see if you're comfortable with them working on your truck

Orange county. 'bout halfway between Knott's berry farm and Disneyland.

yeah man don't think every shop is like that. it is a stigma that every good shop fights. i have done this as a career since 1999 and i can tell you no t a single remote start i have put in has ever looked like that. shop around and find a good shop. if you look at mecp.com you can find a shop with a cert installer, now being cert doesn't make you good by any means but at least they cared enough to learn their trade a little better than most.
Wow, that is horrendous. I'm not a pro installer by any means, I've had to clean up after 'pros' though. I bought a 96 BMW convertible back in April of 08, went to go install a new head unit in it and found a horrible rats nest of wires. The OEM harness had been hacked up, unlabeled, uncolored wires were ran to the doors, and they pulled power from some unknown source deep in the dash. Took me an hour to run it down, remove it, and properly install just the power. A total of 4 hours on a hot July day just to get the wiring straightened out. I wish I would have taken pics but I was only focused on fixing the crap they screwed up.
Are there any plug in remote starts for the GMT900 series trucks? I don't ever have a shop do my installs, I want it done right the first time.

Does anybody know a good install shop for a remote start system in the Fresno area? I don't want a hack job in my truck. Thanks in advance. :fire:

In that area, I would absolutely suggest Audio Innovations.
