Hey everyone.
I have been on the board for awhile to help out with the Jeep steering shaft upgrade but now i need some help.
I am thinking about getting a 2001 Z-71. It has 136,000 miles and in real good shape and has a 4 or 6" lift and oversised tires and rims.. I can get it for $6000 but it has a few issues. I know i will need to get more pictures before i can diagnose everything but figured maybe these are some common issues
The rear differential seams to make some noise under acceleration and it looks like the pinion is in line with the driveshaft, is this normal with a lift? Shouldn't the blocks be tapered to adjust the angle? I am ok with fixing or replacing the rear but want to know my options. Any idea what gear ratio it would be? Are there any upgrade options?

Second issue is the brakes are pulsing. I assume this is just warped rotors but again wanted to know if there was a common problem. Are there upgrade options here also. Not wanting to spend a fortune but since i feel i am getting it for a good price i can sink a few bucks into it.

Here is the only picture i took.
I have to let them know in the morning if i want it, does it sound like a good deal.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Decided it was worth the money and brought it home.
It was getting dark so the few pics i got didn't come out to good.
Thing is bouncing like crazy when i step on the brakes.
Any insight on what to look for would be great.
What size lift does it look like? It has 17" rims with 35s.

Looks good! Seems like A 6" lift I read somewhere that you needed 6" of lift in order to run 35s

Thanks Everyone.

Still trying to piece all the details together but here is what i know so far.

The Good:
2001 Z-71 with 136,000 miles on the 5.3.
Looks like a 6" FabTech lift kit.
17" rims with 35s
Some exhaust modification but not sure what.
Very nice spray in bedliner.
Interior in really good shape for its age.

The Bad:
Brakes pulse pretty bad and when i applied them hard at 50 or so the front of the truck went into pretty bad bounce.
Clunking & ticking from the rear on acceleration from dead stop. I went into the deal assuming i would have to rebuild or replace the rear but hope its something stupid. The pinion looks to be in direct line with the drive shaft, i know thats not right but need to dig into it further.
Interior smells pretty bad after sitting closed up in the sun all day. Carpets are still wet from the cleaning. I figure i may just pull it out and pressure wash it on my deck then let it dry before putting back in.

Right side ball joint is toast and the rotors are warped.
I'll get those items changed out and move on to the next thing i find.

Yeah, the rotors would be your first thing when diagnosing a brake pulsation. If that doesn't cure it, I'd suspect those tires to be at fault, especially if they aren't new and have been wearing funny.
