I want to disable my GPS in my 03 1500 Silverado.
Is there a fuse or a simple way to make sure it's not sending or receiving data?

can't imagine why you would want to.

Here is a thread at Modern Camaro (http://www.moderncamaro.com/forum/do-yourself-how-write-ups/33509-diy-disable-remove-onstar.html) that may have what you are looking for.

Because I don't subscribe to it and haven't since I bought the truck 9 years ago.
Just don't like the non privacy thing. I feel big brother is watching over us more than they need to already.
Don't worry, I'm not in the car jacking business...just don't like being monitored without my consent.
I'm not paranoid either, so it's not like I feel I'm being watched. I just don't think anyone has the right if they ever decided to.
Thanks for the link joe.

I don't see what the big deal is all about not wanting people that I don't know monitoring my whereabouts if I don't want them to.

I am surprised that no one seems to know where the module is.

Even after searching the web, I'm still coming up empty.

Thanks anyway.

Why do you care? If you haven't activated onstar then they can't track you simple as that you can't find the module because there probably
Isn't one and it's just programmed into CPU

Its not that they "are" tracking you, its that they "could." Personally, I think one of the scariest things that a government or law enforcement official could say is "as long as you aren't doing anything wrong, you'll have nothing to worry about."

I actually agree with you, and I wouldn't buy a vehicle with OnStar for that reason.

As I mentioned above, I bought the truck new and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Now it's going to be my project truck, lift kit some minor engine mods new paint etc..
I have absolutely no use for the OnStar and I want it disabled and before Ziggy chimes in again with one of his worthless posts. Yes you can be tracked by who ever has the ability to access their equipment (GM, police dept etc) if it has not been disabled.
I just came here to find out if anyone knew it's location before I started popping off panels and potentially breaking the odd clip along the way.
My dash has never been opened before and therefore doesn't have any creaks or rattles. I'm hoping to keep it that way.

When I first saw on-star advertised on TV I new someday it would be abused. I guess now is someday. Anyway, this is not the only intrusion to privacy in these vehicles. The computer can also store your speed. Case in point: The governor of NJ was in an accident on the NJ expressway and was highly criticized because he was going 95 MPH before the accident. He was going 35 when he actually hit something. This happened awhile ago and unfortunately I don't remember the year of the Suburban.

GM reverses decision on OnStar privacy policy
Sep 27, 2011 3:00 PM

GM announced it has changed its mind regarding plans to allow its OnStar telematic service to continue tracking former members of the service and then sell that collected location data to third parties......
http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/09/gm-reverses-decision-on-onstar-privacy-policy.html

Information is often highly valuable, face book and google are some examples of how much information is worth.

If someone wants to rid themselves of data miners I see no problem with that.

Disconnecting the antenna(s) connectors might stop it from communicating(if the box needs to be left in place).

There's a difference between tinfoil and wanting privacy. It's already known that they can, and will, use OnStar if they deem it necessary to track movement and activity. Privacy is one of the last vestiges of freedom in our lives. I'm all about having more, and not less, of that stuff.

You could always just pull the mirror and replace it with a regular ol' compass/temp mirror out of a LT truck.

Edit: In response to the phone tracking ... It's a service I elect to pay for. If I stop paying for it, there's no more connection, whereas OnStar continues to have elective access to your unit whether you pay for the service or not.

And grasping the point is what you should have done when you read the title to post before you started dumping on my thread.
You have contributed nothing, but garbage.
BTW before you explain to me how to sell my truck and buy a car (dumba$$), I already own a car and another truck as well as a few other vehicles. But ironically enough, it's none of your business and the fact that it's none of your business is the intent of the this post.
Now unless you you have anything intelligent to post (and I'm thinking this is highly unlikely) step the F Off tard.

You are completely full of it. People who want information about you can get it very easily.

For example I am surprised Lawson's hired you because of your obvious IQ.

My bet is you own one maybe two vehicles and what you should own is a cabin deep in the woods a fishing rod and maybe a knife but you might hurt yourself.

You say this post was started all about privacy - I have tried to explain things to you but nobody home.

We are in a digital world my friend and all your info is out there to grab if only someone really gave a **** to know anything about you.
