Hey guys,

First post here and want to say i think this site is awesome. Now to my question, I have a buddy that recently bought a 1982 Chevy C10 stepside to fix up for his wife. The fuel door and gas cap are on the driverside. This bedside is pretty rough so he is looking for a replacement. Problem is he has checked with LMC and other places and it seems noone carries a driverside bedside with a fuel door. I was wondering if the 1982 only came with a passenger side fuel door and the one on the this truck was a conversion someone made? If not then does anyone have an idea where a driverside bedside with fuel door can be had? Kind of got us confused.

Thanks for any help guys.

hmmm..that's weird.. i have an 84 stepper and it has dual tanks, so i know they came with fuel doors on either side...maybe a junkyard?

I ran into the same problem with my '81. Up until a few years ago GM was still making them, but then they stopped production and no aftermarket companies have stepped up to do it. You'll have to either fix the bedside, swap your tank to the passenger side (you can still get a passenger side fender with the fuel door), or do like I did and get a new fender without a fuel door and get one patched in.

Go to the gm dealer, have the parts guy look it up, and see if anyone in the country had one. If they do, the gmspo system will find it, and your dealer can get it from that dealer. Just because they are discontinued doesn't mean they're unavailable.
