I have a 1999.5 silverado with the 5.3. last night i cut my stock exhaust out and welded up a thrush glasspack. it sound good and is almost a perfect sound... put i just want it a smudge louder. I have 2 small cats where my pipe comes out of my headers. and one big cat where they both come together. my question is would it affect emissions to remove that one cat? and if so how much? also with it through a code when I do this. im just wonderin if the 2 small cats will be alright with out the big one.

any other advice on how to make it a little louder would be appreciated... but dont tell me to run straights.. I know the obvious things that will make it louder

Is there an o2 sensor after the big cat?

If there is no o2 after the cat then you can cut it off and it won't throw any cat efficiently codes

As long as you don't get 5 gas tested you should be fine

It's sticking a sniffer thing up the tailpipe to read what the engine is putting out ex noX co2 co o2 etc not many places do it stil but as long as you
Don't have a code or cel you should be fine

As long as there is no sensor, knock yourself out.

Most likely its just a resonator...in every instance that I've seen a "third cat", its just a resonator to smooth out the exhaust flow and quiet it down a bit....I say get rid of it, it'll be louder and should sound better

been doing a little research and i hear that puttin a turn down after the axle makes it louder... is that just because its kinda echoin off the fround or is it some other reason?
