While the same clusters were used in the Chevys and GMCs, changing from "moonies" to the needle gauges is a bit more complex than simply pulling one out and putting the new in. The plugs are different ans is the mounting points for the plugs. You will have to fabricate a new mounting point for the plug, do rewiring and there some other electronics that are used with the needle gauges, but not the moonies. Not too familiar with the electronics needed, but sure someone will post that has the knowledge.

i've never done it myself, but i remember reading a while back (on another webpage) about a guy who did - i don't remember what all he had to do, but i do recall him saying it was a ton of work and a lot of headaches

i'm not sure what your budget is, but have you considered dropping in a digital dash? i put one in my truck this year and i love the look.

i got mine from dakota digital

I think If you have moonies the only year that will be a direct swap is 1990. Other than that you have to wire in a drac module and change over the plug. I looked into it but it was too much work just for some gauges.

I did this on my 88 I got the cluster, plug, and DRAC.It was not that hard just a lot of soldering and I used the wiring diagrams for both the 88 and the 93 and I made an adapter by unsoldering the 88 cluster connector and wired in to the 93 clusters plug in.I thought that it was well worth the time and effort.

went from moonies to plug and play tack cluster from 91to 91 then went the drac route with a 92 454 ss cluster..takes time but is easly doable with paitience...everythings been worked out and labled,,,is a sticky on the site with directions on how to do it
