so i just put on a dual magnaflow catback system and it has a nice tone to it and it sounds good,
but i want it louder and dont want to spend way to much. So what should i do? i was thinking new high flow cats or just gutting mine?

Sounds like you need to spend some time on youtube to find the setup that sounds right for you.

My guess is that route will be more money than he wants to spend based on his post.

No its not, but there are other options that are less expensive than headers for making an exhaust system louder.

Drill holes in the exhaust manifolds

There is so much poor, awful information in this thread. Youtube will NOT give you a real honest REAL LIFE IN PERSON depiction of sound. X pipes make exhaust systems LESS NOISY. Headers BARELY make a system louder.

Gutting cats will require pcm programming/changes. Hi flow cats may be your best bet...something like the thunderbolt cats. Larger diameter pipe will help, or hacking off your tailpipe will help...but those defeat the $$$ you spent on the magnaflow catback.

I don't agree with the barely part, but we do agree that they do make the exhaust louder. My truck is a shat ton louder than what it used to be

And this is using the same cats as before the headers and the same after cat exhaust, with only the headers having changed?

Real lift in person, obviously not because the only way to achieve that is IN PERSON, but it will give you an idea of different sounds and sound levels.

Actually had an additional cat...I did change the motor at the same time as the headers though

Here's an interesting, and contradictory post, from FSC, posted today...(only used to illustrate my point)

Thanks man, I do like the way it is but I can't leave anything alone lol

So here's some header pics

The white paint on other stuff is from when I did a little touchup after rubbing them on the frame to get them in...exhaust sounds basically stock with a little tick and a tiny rumble that's barely noticeable

since youtube wasn't a good enough answer i guess, just cut everything you have off and run just a pipe no cats, no mufflers, there its louder :whyme:

That or turning back the clock to before the catback purchase. A muffler swap may be in order.

Very incorrect, catless longtubes on a nbs increase sound drastically.

Catless longtubes? Apples to oranges. Sounds like a header installation AND a cat delete.
