Is it possible to disassemble the flipdown armrest that is on the jumpseat of an 02' truck and recarpet it? I really want to chang it to black carpet on the bottom portion of it; but would like the option to put it back to stock if I ever go to sell it. Is this possible? TIA for any help.

may not be possible to revert to stock exact, you can always find a stock one in a scrap yard for $20. To get it off you have to pull the bench out, and disassemble the top portion to get at the hinge/fastening mechanism. you can get it out then. from there you gently split the seams on the stock one, or somehow pull it off in one piece. there may be some hog ring clips that will have to be cut to get it off.

If you split the seems, then match pieces of black carpet to the size of the stock fabric, with an extra 1" around. the extra inch is to make the sewing easier. With a bar of soap mark out where the old seam was, to make the final product look the same. you will probably need some vinyl stripping to help with the shape and the mounting. When your done sewing it all together it should be like a sock. not sure from then on cuz i had a pro mount mine. but you will need to invest in a pair of hog ring pliers. to put it on, but i dont know the spots or how to use them

thanks, that is some great info. Just wish i could find a spare console around here for around $20; all the local junkyards are expensive on everything.

no problem, the best way to find out exactly what you need to do is to go to a pick and pull scrap yard, you can play around with a tattered armrest that nobody would want anyways, and if it rips or it gets damaged it wont matter. you can find out the location of the clips that way too, so you dont take apart something you dont need to on yours
