2011 Silverado LS Question

Can someone tell me if there is a way to tell by the VIN if the DIC is compatible with my truck every dealer I talk to gives me a hard time about it so help from you guys would be appreciated.

you can use a DIC ive seen em in a few obs trucks since the DIC's from blazers fit in overhead consoles perfect and it would prob even easier to do on yours with all the options it has compared to an obs

You can't tell that info from the VIN. The VIN only tells you very basic info, as in year/model/4x4 vs 2wd/engine size. It doesn't tell you anything about trim level. It often doesn't even tell you wheelbase/cab configuration (crew/ext/etc).

Okay so I guess its just a try it and see type thing ? I have the plug behind my dash but like I said didnbt really want to go out and spend $100 if the DIC isnt going to work. Any advice

Actually the dealer can pull a detailed vehicle build sheet from the VIN but it won't tell you if it is compatible or not, it will just be a detailed list of what was original to the truck.
