climate control

my GMC has a digital climate control and no matter what setting i put it on all of the verticle arrows on the left side and all the horiziontal arrows at the bottom flash simultainiously. what causes this and is the control just shot.

What year and model? In my 91 I had a problem a while back that when I tried to switch from the top vents to the floor it would just flash and it was the blend motor that was bad. I swapped it out and everything worked.
