ok i'm backhalving my frame and it's time to get the pinion and rear setup dealt with. it's bag on bar with a triangulated 4 link and an '88 rcsb. i am NO WHERE close to having the engine or tranny be installed. (new 468!) how can i set pinion angle with no tranny installed? i didn't even think to check angle when i took it apart 2 1/2 years ago! i'm figuring roughly setting ride height around frame being 8" or so off the ground. tires are a 265/35/22 also. Need help ASAP!!! thanks!

Are your bars not adjustable? If they are you should be able to set your frame up level at ride height, then set the pinion angle at 4-5 degrees up. That should give you a good starting point untill you get the trans in the frame. I think the only other option would be to install the trans crossmember and then measure the tailshaft location of the trans in relation to the crossmember. Then place something in the location of where the trans output would be and use that to set up the driveshaft/pinion angle.

:word: I'd be tempted to take measurements of the tranny and make a wood mockup to work from.
