I buy a lot of stuff from Griot's and have been very happy with most of what they sell so far. I recently bought a small bottle of their glass cleaner and some glass cleaning microfiber cloths. I was shocked when I used them for the first time. This is the best glass cleaning solution I have ever found and I thought I would share my finding with my fellow detail enthusiasts. Before this, the best that I found was called Sprayaway. It is a foaming cleaner and I used it with white papertowels. It worked good but I still got streaks unless it was completely dry when the wiping was finished. Also, the imperfections really showed up if the windows ever became foggy like in the middle of winter when it's pouring down rain and the car is cold. This stuff sprays on like any other liquid cleaner and the mircrofiber towel picks up dirt and contaminants you don't even see that are there. You really don't have to scrub even no matter how bad the windows are. Most of Griot's stuff seems to be designed to work together. I haven't tried using the microfiber with another cleaner or the cleaner with other towels but the combination works great.

Anyway, I was very impressed and wanted to share because the only thing I hate cleaning more than the engine compartment is the windows.

The microfiber cloth has a lot to do with the job, in my experience. You can buff most glass/mirror surfaces with no cleaner at all (not to say you should on a car or truck).

I will check the product out though, I'm always looking for new products to try :cheer:

I happen to be lucky enough to live about 15 minutes away from their only retail store. It's pretty impressive.

I too have a lot of their products and love it alot, I have that Sprayway stuff and like it, but leaves a hollographic haze when used with microfibers, I may have to order the Griots kit.

Just a tip for all of you guys (and gals)...I use newspaper to clean all of my windows, before I even touch them with my glass cleaner and MF towels. Especially the insides as they get that film on them that's emitted from the plastics/vinyls in the dashboard/seats. Just lightly crumple the newspaper and buff away the hazy film, re-crumpling from time to time.

The newspaper does a great job of eliminating the film on the windows, making the glass cleaner and MF much more effective. In fact, if I'm in a hurry, I'll often just hit my windows with newspaper and not even 'clean' them with a cleaner.

And as a side note, I just purchased some "Aquapel" glass cleaner (typically I use Stoner's), and after cleaning all three cars yesterday, I was pretty impressed with it.

You must have a dark int. The ink on the paper rubs off onto the window pillars / light colored ceiling edge bordering the widow and so on , and not to mention your hands then not thinking touch other light colored items and the ink transfers right on that too...

Nope...I've got light grey interior. Never had an issue with the ink at all.

I use the newspaper "only" on the glass and have never had an issue with ink getting on the light grey headliner or window pillars in any of my cars. I also wash/wipe my hands off occasionally as I clean/detail my cars so as to keep any extra dirt/grime from getting elsewhere.

Clay bar also works well on water spots on glass.

How does this stuff work on tint, I normally just use water and micro fiber towel, but it seems like I can't really get them totally clean, buts its a better alternative to damaging the my tint

i like the armor all glass cleaner and the wash but a company called C.A.R. makes awesome interior shine/tire shine called "royal shine" it just lasts longer and is shinier.

Yah the tire shine isn't the best. I put some on Sunday and I chased down a buddy on dirt road going 80mph and it wasn't shiny any more. It also puts a bunch of black grease on my wheels. I'm going to try some others and hopefully come across one that is better. I took the picture for Armor All and sent it to them.

Hey guys, I am new to this forum, but have been on numerous others, including Corvettes, Hummers, Mercedes, and four different Silverado forums. I just discovered this one last week. I do believe it is the best Silverado forum available. Having said that, I have another option for you on the window cleaner. About 14 years ago, when I first got into Corvettes, someone on one of the Corvette forums mentioned this recipe for window cleaner. I am a fanatic about keeping all my vehicles detailed, but had never found a window cleaner that worked for me. I have tried most of them including Stoners. Griots Garage, Zaino Bros, plus all the "off the shelf" products and didn't like any of them. So I thought I would give this recipe a try. It was fantastic. My wife was so amazed with it that we have used it in the house for several years now, on all the mirrors, etc. This recipe consists of 1/2 cup of clear amonia, 1 pint of 70% Isopropyl Alcohol, 1 teaspoon of Liquid Dawn Detergeant, then add enough water to make a gallon. I always make it in a gallon jug and then fill all the spray bottles in the house. When the jug gets low, I top off the spray bottles and make another jug full to keep it on hand at all times...It is not hard to make, it is not expensive, and one gallon goes a long ways. Try it, I believe you will be impressed.

Welcome to FSC! This is a great site with lots of good info and people. That sounds like a great recipe, unless you have tinted windows, Ammonia is a no no for tint.

Yes, I know about the amonia no-no on tinted windows, but I believe that means pure amonia. I fully understand the skepticism but I know from experience, 1/2 cup amonia in a gallon recipe is not going to damage or degrade the tint in any way. I have four vehicles, all have tinted windows. My '03 Vette show car, had the windows tinted on Dec. 24, 2002 and the windows have never been cleaned with anything else but the "recipe." The tint still looks as good as the day it was installed, almost 10 years ago. Other than my new Silverado, the other vehicles in my fleet is a '10 Escalade (wife's car), and an '11 Mercedes E350. I use the recipe on all of them. As I mentioned earlier, they all have tinted windows, complete with tinted windshield strip.

One note here, I never, ever spray the cleaner directly on the inside of the windows. When cleaning the inside of the windows, I spray it on the rag first... a top of the line synthetic rag. That is my procedure and it has proven to work for me for the last 14 years. I am always cautious about trying new things I'm not sure about, especially if there is a possibility of something going wrong.

Very interesting, I thought any formula regardless of grade of ammonia would deterioate the film. Well that is enough for me to want to try it
