I have a '99 Silverado and I want to be able to have my vehicle running at night with just the parking lamps.
I know about the dome override trick (It doesn't work on the '99s!
also I have read about add the resistor to basically disable the photocell.
I'm not really wanting to do that because I will end up leaving the headlights on probably.
I'm wondering if it will be just plug and play and if It can be done.
If anyone has the schematic and can tell me if It can be done or not I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

This is the switch that I have ('99-02)

My 1999(OBS)has a fuse for the daytime running lamps which can be removed to disable em, I went ahead and added a toggle switch to the circuit instead of just removing the fuse on mine.
The DRL indicator on the dash still lights up on mine, as if they are on even with the fuse removed/circuit switched off.

Sort of like this here:

But I am not sure if you have a fuse for the DRL on that year truck.

Best of luck.

I indeed do have have a fuse for my DRL but pulling it doesn't solve the problem. Then I just have no DLR's and my headlamps will just come on automatically at night.
I forgot to say (NBS)

click your ebrake down one notch before you start your truck, your brake light on your dash will be on but itll keep your headlights from turning on automatically. Its easy and cheap.

That disables the Day time running lamps if I'm not mistaken?

As far as I know it doesn't work. The 03+ interiors are for more complex because they send all the signals to the computer instead of to a relay. It controls everything and I know for a fact the connector is different on the 03+ switch.

Yes, totally differnt connector...tried that...However, it's not to say it can't be re-wired...lol

I'm really interested in finding a way to make it work! It's a really good idea! of if someone can direct me to the post of how to disable them with a resistor (or something of the sort) I can't find it! :dunno:
