Finally after a couple years of looking i found a Diesel suburban. I bought a 1994 gmc k2500 Suburban with the 6.5 turbo diesel. I know these arent the most loved engines sometimes but i loved having my 454 but the mpg was killing me and after driving this one id say its right there with the 454 power wise but way way better on fuel. Ill have to swap over all my overland gear bumper, winch, rack, lights, cb, inverter, gear, etc... so im not looking forward to that but this truck is in better condition so it will be a better platform for us. It runs great with that Diesel engine and has the 4l80e tranny which shifts like new. Has the 14bff in the rear with the g80 and 4.10 gears. Going to take a while before i trust it enough to take into the middle of no where but i think this will be great for us.

nice find. I was looking for a decent diesel suburban, but all i could find were the 1500 suburbans with 350. I ended up coming across a deal for a 95 I couldn't pass up. I have been lurking the forum for a while, and your blue suburban has been an inspiration to me.

Thanks suicidal, ive been looking for a diesel suburban for years their definitely hard to find in this area. The only thing i would have gotten over my blue suburban was a diesel so it worked out. Any pics of ur 95?

thanks, i love it so far. Its hard to build up that "trust" in ur vehicles that u need for an overland trip lol. My 454 burban had move little issues but i trusted it more just because i knew the quirks.

I like to think of the diesel burb as a hidden secret. Look at the great expedition vehicles in Africa nad Australia, all diesel suv's! Nothing like it really. The 6.5 is really very reliable once the PMD issue was solved. Ive had mine for 14 years and outlasted several vehicles I purchased to replace her. No pics yet but I have done the PMD relocate, turb master and ECM from Heath. Just installed the 4" diamond eye exhaust and cross over pipe and the 130gpm water pump with 21" fan. Only problem Ive had is cooling under load at altitude. Starting the "expo" conversion myself. Will post pics soon

I completely agree. At the Overland expo i was the only suburban that was set up as an expo rig. It took me forever to find it but i think its going to be a great truck. The previous owner used the Heath relocating kit and moved it to the front bumper, has a turbo master, not sure about the ECM, and has a banks turbo system that will work for now. I still want to upgrade the water pump, and fan/clutch. Definitely post some pics of ur progress with ur expo rig
Nice find!
Thanks, took long enough lol
