Can somebody post a picture of what the the shift lever pivots off of? I assume a bracket that bolts to the trans or transfercase. Been 4yrs since I took that truck apart and dont remember how it went. The 205 is from an 87 1ton and im using it in my 83 k20 that has a sm465 in it. Thanks for any help

The T case shifter mounts to the threaded boss on the adapter that goes between the trans and transfer case .

I do not have a picture right now , but I will try to post one in the morning for you .

I was afraid it was on the adapter. The transmision that the 205 i have was behind was a th400 which i dont have anymore but wouldnt work anyway. Both the SM465 and NP205 i have are 32 spline and have the 6 bolt round pattern. Wonder if i could make a brakcet or something. I dont really want to use the NP208 that was behind the SM465 cause im putting a 454 in that truck now. Thanks for the help guys

You can get a cable actuated shifter for a205, not sure how they mount, but may be something to look into.

Maybe I'm missing something.

You should be able to use factory parts. My '77 K-15 GMC came from the factory with the 465 and the 205. Fifteen years ago, I replaced the original 350 with a 454. No problems, hell of a tough setup.

There is a factory adapter for the SM465 to NP205 with 6 bolts too.

My problem is that the adapter on my sm465 doesnt have the threaded boss that the np205 shifter threads into since it originally had a np208 behind it. I have a feeling its going to be hard to find the adapter i need since its the 6 bolt round pattern instead of the figure 8 pattern
