I am trying to find a good off road use automatic shifter. I have ruled out a ratchet shifter (too much work to get into reverse in a tight spot). I am pretty sure I know what I am going to get: the B&M Unimatic shifter. I am trying to see if anyone has any experience with them. I like that it has a semi reverse lockout (you have to press down to get to reverse or park). This means if I start to roll over and need to back up in a rush I can just push it down and throw it all the way forward and I'm in reverse. At least that's what I'm hoping. The main question that I cannot seem to get answered is if it stops at reverse, or will it go all the way to park while it's pressed in? This could eat a second or two that could save my rig and even my life to find reverse. If it does go all the way into park how hard would it be to have a metal shop fabricate a plate that stops it at reverse and it would have to return to the "up" position to be put into park? Any thoughts or tips that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to use the original gear indicator on the top of the steering column. Any thoughts on how to rig that to work with it? Thanks!!
