Hey guys, my 98 has the 60/40 cloth bench front seat with the fold down consule/armrest in the middle. The latch broke and I can't open it anymore so I'd like to replace it. The problem is whenever I search for center consules I get the big plastic thing that bucket seats have between them. What else would the fold down bench seat version be called? Is there a known fix for it that Im not finding in my seaches on here? Any good places to buy one new?

Prolly help, but try a few salvage yards. Only name I can think of is bench console lid, never really was into bench seats, so wouldn't really know the name. You could just post a Craigslist ad asking for the part/s.

Mine did too, I just push down on that metal bar to get it open. I find that its a security feature if people can't figure out how to open it.

I did the same thing in my Suburban. I removed the plastic part while searching for a replacement and ended up leaving it that way. It's not noticeable and still functions.
