I finally recieved EVERYTHING that I needed to install my Pioneer AVH-P4400BT in my 2004 2500HD. I am going to try and tackle it all tonight. My question is....Do I have to remove the metal brace behind the dash to be able to achieve this install? I've heard conflicting stories, and just wanna be set straight before I dive into this.
Thanks,
Kyle

You talking about the one behind the factory radio right?
If so, then yes

10 years of installing and i haven't had to cut that piece out yet from any 2003 -2007 (classic) gm fullsize truck or suv to include installing my pioneer d3 in my '06 sierra

Before I cut it I tried sliding ,y z120bt into place before hooki g up any wires or anything. Didn't even come close to fitting. Though if memory serves it may have been a plastic bracket that runs across width wise. Maybe I'm mistaken with what op is talking about? Either way I needed to cut out a piece to have it fit.

I had plenty of room in my truck, just have to make sure and tuck the wires so they dont get pinched between the brace and stereo.

the plastic pieces need to come out, not the metal
if you see where the plastic attaches to the metal brace with a rivet, you need to cut from there down to the openings where the ac wires and stuff behind the ac controls go.

Just swapped out my eclipse cd5000 for a pioneer 80prs. While it was out I looked at what I cut and it was a plastic brace that ran horizontal off of the metal brace. Metal brace was not cut
