Looking for a place to run my amp power wire, and wanted some input from those with an OBS of where you put yours?
I don't see a whole lot of easy to get to spots on the firewall, so before I go unbolting things I figured I'd ask.

Might as well as where you put your ground, too.... any good spots in an extended cab to bolt it to? The box and amp is going under the rear seat on the driver's side.

My Suburban is a 2000, but amp wiring is pretty much the same. I ran it through the grommet on the drivers side of the firewall. I cut a hole in the seal and ran it alongside the main wiring bundle/harness. Chances are you'll need minimum of 8AWG to feed the amp, and you need to run it directly from the battery. In my case the amp called for 8 gauge as did the powered sub. I ran a 4 gauge from the battery to a distribution block under my back seat and came off that with two 8AWG to the amps.

It's a tiny 250w amp for running a tiny 8" sub just to add some low end. I had it in my other car so I'm reusing the wiring, it's 6AWG.
My OBS doesn't have any grommet that I could see on the driver's side.

The grommet is there, it's under the Vaccuum booster IIRC, already hase a huge bundle of wires going through it. I fit 4 gauge through there with the existing harness. I then ran it under the rubber floor (didn't have capet) down the centre of the truck to reduce it getting treaded on. My ground was the seat bolt.

I'll have to take a closer look, thanks!
I was concentrating on finding a plug or grommet of some sort on the passenger side since that's where the battery is, plus the firewall is less cluttered.

i ran 0 gage down the pass side and made my own hole rite by the coolant over flow tank and ran it down the pass side of the interior to the rear firewall. made another hole with the paint stripped for the ground under the carpet in the rear. remember to keep the ground as short as possable .good luck with your install

I ran through the drivers side firewall down next to the booster. Pulled the plastics on the drivers side and ran in the channel by the door and then under the carpet once past the door, grounded to the extended cab seat belt bolt.

Thieves were nice enough to undo it gently when they stole it. :bull:
