Hey all, new member here from alberta.
Got a 97 Tahoe, 350 vortec, 4x4, auto, 4 door.
Belonged to the inlaws till thier 16yr old daughter had the idler sieze up, destroyed the belt, overheated engine so bad it fired the temp sensor, cracked the head in the center, blew the head gasket obviously, which then got that lil metal lip pulled into the cylinder, and embbeded in the cylinder wall.
So, I have a replacement engine on the stand, all but ready to go in. Tore it down, checked it over, replaced all the gaskets etc, (May as well since its out and on a stand!)
Now all thats left is to put the rear seal retainer and seal in, oil pan, and filter adaptor back on, n shes ready to go back in.
just need to find the "Proper" procedure for that rear retainor. I cant find the torque specs/sequence for it, and it runs in my mind there may have been a few dabs of sealant in the corners kinda thing when i pulled it apart...?
All my googlin n searching just points to replacing the seal itself, without removing the retainer..
so anyways, that lead me here, and.. umm.. yeah. thats it in a nutshell!
