I was wondering if anybody has taken out your cluster guages and wired in some aftermarket ones like autometer or other brands. If you have was it easy? If you have any pics please share.
Thanks

Ok cool I was looking on here and was having a hard time finding anything on it. I think I am loosing the cluster in my truck as the speedometer works intermittently and I have been having thoughts about doing custom set up

Replaced my cluster in 90 gmc with auto meter, was not cheap or all that easy. alot of wires to to trace and splice. had mine done at a shop as I am not that good with wiring.
Can not give you exact cost but will post pics tonite if I remember.

i swapped out my gauges for a digital dash from dakota digital
the cluster was $600... but i also got some other stuff (so my bill was higher)...
the dimmer switch (i HIGHLY recommend it... although i don't like how it looks - so i painted mine black and changed the adjusting knob)
i also got a part that attaches to the outside of the transmission so the readout tells you what gear you are in
it's was fairly easy to install. there were a couple of 'what the??' moments, but nothing too serious
here's the link for my cluster:

lynx5653 that is a nice set up I like it where did you get the piece at the top of your guages for what I assume for your turn signals and such.

Not to change the subject but i have a 92 obs and the guage cluster does not have a rpm tach. I found a gauge cluster on craigslist from a 92 that has a rpm. How hard is it to make this swap?

That is a scanner in your dash where the stock radio was right? What kind of scanner is that?

lynx5653 thanks for the info. I don't have to worry about the gear indicator as I have a manual in my truck.

hey PA.REDNECK
sorry... i haven't checked this thread for a bit
you bet it's a scanner!!
it's the uniden bc355c - i got it from walmart

it works really well once it's programmed (which was a little tricky until i figured out what to do!)
