01 silverado 1500 cluster issue

like the title says i have 01 silverado 1500,im trying to get ideas here i want a cluster that has the factory tran's temp in it,my question to everyone is is my truck wired up for it in the main cluster harness or not?if its not would it be easy for me to simply buy the cluster with the trans temp in it an run a power an ground wire an a probe an find a opening on the tranny an plug it in?or would it be easier to just grab a gauge pillar an gauge an wire it up with a probe an place it on the tranny any feedback is appreciated thanks pat

Pretty sure that's over the data bus, should just need to get a cluster that had it, and install

SS clusters have it, and everything just plugs right in.

99-02 gms, including 2500 gas trucks, plugs right in. I just did mine.

really ok what do you do about the mileage,mines got around 153,00 miles what can i do about achieving the same milleage on the new cluster?

Find one close, or find a company that reprograms them. I think I have seen companys on eBay.that sell them already programmed...also, dorman sells them already programmed with the .mileage

As far as I know, anyone with a tech2 scanner (dealership) can reprogram it but I've heard there are some issues with dealers not wanting to do it. Best bet would be find a company that does it.

very good my uncle is a certified gm mechanic with a tech 2 scanner hehehe ordering the cluster now an ill get it reprogrammed thanks all for the help i appreciate it-pat
