It's time for a new exhaust on my truck, It's a 1994 K1500 RCLB 5.7l V8 5 speed manual trans. It needs a whole new exhaust, the one on it now is completly trash. I've been getting quotes at local shops because I dont have the time or equipment to do it myself. I have been throwing around two ideas. I want to get either 2.5" duals with either flowmaster 10's or super 44's or a single exhaust into a single in-dual out flowmaster 10 or super 44. The best quote I got was $200-$250 for single in-dual out, or $500 for duals. My question is to those of you who have either set-up, are the duals worth the extra $250-$300? I want it to be loud but still sound good. What would the difference in both sound and preformance be in these set-up's.

True duals on tbi are a waste of money IMO. I believe a single pipe is better performance wise but duals sound good on them. I have a single 3in. pipe with a single in/dual out flowmaster to duals (2 1/4in I think) without the cat and its pretty fackin loud for a single pipe, but I want my glasspack instead.

Im happy with my single exhaust. Its loud when I need it to be. I'm also catted bc of emissions.

Thanks guys, yea, i'm probably gonna end up going with the single exhaust, single inlet dual outlet and put the $300 i'll save back into the truck. Now which do you recomend, flowmaster 10 or super 44? I have a 40 series on my 96 c1500 (4.3l V6) and I think it sounds good (for a 6 cyl) but I'd like something more agressive for this truck.

i've been wandering myself... i am mainly wanting the sound though... i also think the duals give the truck a more agressive look... but if you run dual outlet, it still looks the same...

I hate Flowmaster, so my vote is for a Cherry Bomb Extreme.

i just got dual 2.5" off flowtech headers to thunderbolts to super 10's on my '90 5.7......... it sounds good at idle and then at higher rpm it has that loud somewhat dirty sound to it that you would get from a glasspack imo

duals worth it ?.....NO....not for your set up...single 3 in will take you along way before you need to consider duals

Where in PA are ya? I've been looking for a better exhaust shop. The place I took my truck to is way outta line with their pricing. They charged me over 50 bucks to weld on an O2 sensor bung, I want to take the SI/DO off my 89 and go single 3 all the way back.

Im going to a place called 30 West, its about 5-10 miles outside Gettysburg some of my friends get their work done there and say its as good as any other shop but cheaper, there is also this place called Kieth's pit stop and I have heard many good things about him too but his prices were twice as much. But unless your looking to take a road trip both are a ways from Reading.....BUT both shops will do it that day if you set up an appointment you can drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. So if your local shop prices are really that much then you could come down and spend the day being a tourist and pick it up and be home in the same day.

Might be worth it. I called to get a price on duals a few months ago and one shop said they start catbacks without tips at 350 and thats with me re using my muffler. Since then I changed my mind to a single 3 I like the single pipe with a nice chrome tip out the back.

I took it from my phone so the quality is not the greatest but you get the point. Also there are no tips on yet, I plan on getting some 45 degree stainless steel tips, like I have on my other truck, they look good. It only ended up costing me $150 because I supplied my own muffler instead of useing theirs. So far I am happy with it.

Yea the muffler was 3"inlet to dual 2.50" outlet, the pipe looks a little smaller then 3" though (2.75? maybe) because it flares out a little where its welded onto the muffler but theres no adaptor so I assume its around 2 3/4"

This is what I have now with a 70 series and pipes angled out behind rear wheels; im also catless. I am changing to a magnaflow this weekend, same set up though. Flowmaster is too quiet for my liking.

Yea, but its now flowmaster in general that is quiet, just the 70 series is ment to be quiet, I'm happy with the sound of my super 10 (then again this truck was straight piped before I got the 10, so the 10 is the closest to straight piped you can get with a muffler), but from what I understand magnaflow good too. In fact the exhaust tip on my 96 is a magnaflow.

I understand that one, the 70 is suppose to be quiet. I just felt the need to change completely since I was doing it, different sound period. The straight through muffler vs. chambered.
Keep in mind that as the muffler "breaks in" so to speak it will get a little louder

I recently had a Flowmaster Super 10, single in / dual out, installed on my 2000 and I love it. Sounds good at idle and really comes to life when I step on it
