Straight to the point i have a 2002 1500 5.3l v8

1) will headers make my truck louder? i have a single pipe with a 8 inch glasspack 2.5 inch piping

2) will it give me any mpg gain or power gain?

3) will headers burn out? go bad? anything like that?

4) Shorties? or Longtubes?

Add anyhting else i should know anything will be much apprecaited
Thanks Dan

1: They can
2: Small amount of both
3: Cheapies can rust out
4: Long tubes

In truth, you might see 1-2 MPG at best and on a good day, a set of headers will increase 20 HP at best, on a stock engine

Longtubes on a stock motor are only good for about 5hp over shortys,Thats not really worth the time fabing up the pipes, especially if you have 4wd.Actually youll lose bottem end power if you dont have the correct setup.

Long tubes any day
Over shortys on these engines shortys are not even worth the effort

my fault i was thinking a vortec 350,again sorry.longtubes for the 5.3L no question about it since the stock manifolds flow pretty much like a shorty header.

you get coated ones? long tubes are the ONLY way to go if looking for power from headers. don't wast your money on shortys i did that once
