Tips for obs exterior door handle installation?

Any tips on getting the things in. I can get both the rod connected but then it doesnt want to slide back in no matter what angle I put it. Suggestions?

i had mine replaced a couple years ago

i had heard that it's just brutal to get them back in, so i was happy to pay the $$ to avoid the frustration

I helped a guy at work replace one on Tuesday and you have to put the handle in the door first, then connect the rods to the handle. Its pretty aggrivating.

Use a bungie cord to hold the interior handle in the open position and re-attach.

You have to attach the rods to the handle attach the handle in the door then remove the three screws that hold the actual locking mech (the part lower in the door that locks into the center post) in then carefully drop the lock slip in the rods then slide it back into position and put the bolts back in. ( sorry if my description is poor if you need me to I can try & take pic's) let me know.
