frame cut

Hey guys, gotta question for ya, do I have to un-bolt the leaf pack from the axle when cutting the frame for a c-notch? just wondering as I know I should have jacks front back on the frame but should I remove the load from the frame as well? Any help would be appreciated, any other tips would come in handy as well, thanks!!!!

Not take them out but just disconnect the axle from the frame, to take some of the load off the frame to prevent the frame from possibly tweaking????? maybe it's not necessary, I'm just not sure.

Nah you don't need to. Just support the frame before the cut. The leaf hangers are a good spot for the jack stands.:read:

sounds good, so where do you guys recommend supporting the front of the frame? is under the cab too far forward?

Yeah, the cab would be way to far forward. Use jackstands under the front leaf hangers.

Do unbolt the leafs in the rear, you can leave them bolted in the front but if you leave the leaves in while you cut away at your frame, there is pressure comin from the front and back from having the leaves bolted in still. You dont have to unbolt them from the axle though. Leaving your bed on will help keep the frame from moving around a bit.

I did one side at a time with the jackstand right before and right aft of the cut. This is the only proper way to do it to prevent frame sagging.
